Giving Thanks
The bird turned out great. The afternoon was full of family chatter, card playing, NFL football and good cheer.A couple of tense moments with the smell of burnt dust from firing up the furnace for the season's first time and another duct tape band-aid on the toilet seat so my mother-in-law wouldn't fall through were the only dicy moments in a day when the pressure's on everyone to have a good time whether they damned well like it or not!
It's not exactly a Martha Stewart style thanksgiving. But then again, I'm too poor to trade any worthwhile information, inside or out, let alone lie about it.
Speaking of Martha: Somehow, I just knew she'd get across the border. Not that she's a physical threat to anyone, but she does represent the double standard quite prettily, doesn't she?
Oh, well. It's thanksgiving. Too bad about the pumpkin rainout thingy. Pass me another leg.
By the way. The turkey in the picture is an actual photo of ours, straight out of the oven.
In your face, Martha!
